Dreaming of Snow earns $50,000
Florida-bred win bonus from FTBOA

OLDSMAR, FL—Florida-bred Dreaming
of Snow withstood a stretch long challenge
from recently crowned champion 2-year-
old filly Wonder Wheel to win the $150,000
Suncoast at Tampa Bay Downs at odds of
38-1 while also stepping onto the road to
the Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks. The
Suncoast, which presented a field of eight
3-year-old fillies going a mile-and-40-yards
on the main track, awarded 40 Kentucky
Oaks qualifying points to the first five fin-
ishers on a 20-8-6-4-2 basis. Dreaming of
Snow is now in a four-way tie, ranked third
on the Kentucky Oaks Leaderboard behind
top-rated Wonder Wheel, who has 48 Oaks
points; and The Alys Look with 24 points.

$50,000 bonus as a Florida-bred winner presented
by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Own-
ers’ Association.
Based on her Eclipse Award championship
and victories in the Grade 1 NetJet Breeders’
Cup Juvenile Fillies on Nov. 4 and in the Grade 1
Darley Alcibiades in October, both at Keeneland,
Wonder Wheel was made the 1-2 favorite in the
Suncoast but she was unable to wear down a stub-
born Dreaming of Snow, who won by a neck.
Dreaming of Snow and jockey Samy Camacho
shot from post five at the start of the Suncoast to
take a clear lead into the clubhouse turn as Display
Stakes runner-up Ticker Tape Home gave chase in
second and Gasparilla-winner Opus Forty Two
was forced to check hard while racing in third on
the rail.
Dreaming of Snow had a half-length on Ticket Tape Home com-
ing out of the first turn after a quarter-mile in :24.05 but extended
that advantage to a length after a half-mile in :47.07. Dreaming of
Snow tried to shake free from her rivals around the far turn as Opus
Forty Two moved into second, Ticker Tape Home began to retreat
and Wonder Wheel started to advance on the outside.
Dreaming of Snow continued to show the way on the inside
as they turned for home while Wonder Wheel took second and
Grade 2 Demoisel-winner Julia Shining moved into third on the
far outside.
Wonder Wheel and jockey Tyler Gaffalione
tried to get by Dreaming of Snow while they raced
together down the stretch but the latter fought off
her more accomplished rival to win her first add-
ed-money affair in 1:40.18 on the track labeled fast
despite rain that had started as the fillies were in
the paddock saddling for the Suncoast.
“I said ‘Put your hands under her, Dear Lord,
and carry her on home,’ ” trainer Gerald Bennett
said of Dreaming of Snow’s determined run in the
final furlong.
Wonder Wheel finished second, a length-and-a-
quarter ahead of Julia Shining in third followed, in
order, by Opus Forty Two, Florida-bred Charlie’s
Wish, Champagne Calling, Fast Tracked and Tick-
er Tape Home.
Wonder Wheel earned eight Oaks qualifying points for finish-
ing second while Julia Shining picked up six Oaks points. Opus
Forty Two earned four Oaks points while Charlie’s Wish got two
points for finishing fifth.
Dreaming of Snow paid $78 on a $2 win ticket.
“[Dreaming of Snow has] been training really well and getting
better and better,” Bennett continued. “She went a little backwards
during the cold weather but she blew out like a monster [going four
furlongs in :46 flat on Feb. 4] and galloped out quick. You had to
be on the rail today and I told Samy [Camacho] to put her on the
lead and she kept going. She likes this track, so you can’t win it if

Camacho said he knew early that Dreaming of Snow had tal-
ent, but was surprised at how well she handled the added distance
after finishing fourth to winner Opus Forty Two the seven-furlong
Gasparilla at Tampa Bay Downs on Jan. 14.
“I know this filly well and when I got on her in the morning for
the first time, I told [Bennett] ‘I have to stay on her,’” Camacho said.
“She’s pretty nice, but I never thought she would run two turns like
this. She came back again when Wonder Wheel came to her.
“I beat Wonder Wheel—Wow! I’m pretty happy.”
Bennett and Camacho had to momentarily wait out a claim of
foul by jockey Daniel Centeno on Opus Forty Two, but the track
stewards left the order of finish intact.
It was the first stakes victory for Dreaming of Snow, who was
also fourth in the $100,000 Sandpiper won by fellow Florida-bred
Dorth Vader at Tampa Bay on Dec. 3. However, she had shown
promise between her starts in the Sandpiper and Gasparilla when
she won a first level, $75,000 optional claiming by eight-and-a-
half lengths at Tampa on Dec. 17 at six furlongs.
Dreaming of Snow is owned by Team Equistaff LLC and Ben-
nett’s Winning Stable Inc. and she was bred in Florida by Karyn
Philipp. By Jess’s Dream out of Snow Fashion, by Old Fashioned,
Dreaming of Snow is a two-time graduate of OBS having first
sold for $35,000 out of the Bobby Jones Equine consignment to
Vina Del Mar Thoroughbreds at the 2021 October Sale. She was
also purchased by Mary K. Thomas for $60,000 at the 2022 OBS
March Sale where she was consigned by Boutte Sales.
Her overall record now stands at three wins from five starts and
earnings of $170,850.
Snow Fashion has three winners from three starters with Dream-
ing of Snow being her only stakes winner. She has an unraced
2-year-old colt, Snowname, by The Big Beast, who stands at Ocala
Stud, and a yearling colt, Keep On Snowing, by Bridlewood Farm
stallion Valiant Minister.

Golden Kernel Racing Stable’s
Yes I Am Free continued the domina-
tion by Florida-breds in the Grade 3
Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint as the
7-year-old gelding won $125,000
test for the second consecutive year
Saturday. Yes I Am Free was the best
of five 4-year-olds and older who
sprinted five furlongs on the firm turf
in the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint,
which has been won by Florida-breds
in six of the 13 times the race has
been run since 2010.
Florida-breds also swept both
stakes at Gulfstream Park Saturday
as One Identity won the $100,000
Ladies Turf Sprint earlier on the card.
Ridden by Miguel Vasquez from
post four, Yes I Am Free set every fraction while leading by a
length-and-a-half through quarter-mile splits of :21.75 and :44.33
as County Final and Carotari pursued together in second.
Yes I Am Free took a clear lead into the stretch before 7-5
favorite Carotari and Joel Rosario began to make a late run to get
second, a half-length short of Yes I Am Free in a time of :55.71.
Shekky Shebaz was third as Belgrano and County Final completed
the order of finish.
“We kind of had two ways that we were thinking it would play
out: get out, go to the lead, try to get to the rail and save some
ground, get the lead and keep the lead. Or, if anybody else kind of
wanted to go out in front, hang back a little bit, let the speed go
and make a closing move.” Cazares said. “I told Miguel, ‘Do what
you need to do. You know how the race is going to play out there.
I don’t want to tell you too much. These are our two game plans
and go with whichever one.’”
Yes I Am Free paid $8.60 to win.
A late bloomer who won his first stake last year in the Gulfst-
ream Park Turf Sprint as a 6-year-old, Yes I Am Free was claimed
by trainer Laura Cazares for $62,500 in April of 2021 at the Hal-
landale Beach track. Two races later he was third behind winning
Florida-bred Warriors Pride in the $100,000 Turf Sprint at Gulf-
stream in July of 2021. A fourth-place finish in an overnight hand-
icap on the Gulfstream synthetic course completed his campaign
that year before he came back to win last years Gulfstream Turf
Sprint in his second start of 2022. He then won the $100,000 Silks
Run before finishing off the board in both the $100,000 Get Seri-
ous won by The Critical Way at Monmouth Park in May and in the
$100,000 Bob Umphrey won by Chasing Artie in July.
He was then given nearly seven months off before returning to
win a second level, $62,500 optional claiming going five furlongs
on the turf at Gulfstream on Jan. 19 just prior to winning his sec-
ond Gulfstream Turf Sprint.
“His last race as a very tough race and we were very worried,”
Cazares said. “He hadn’t run in a while and we know he was going
to need a race off the layoff but he fought the entire way. He was
not giving up. He showed a lot of heart.”
Yes I Am Free is by Uncaptured
out of Yes It’s Valid, by Yes It’s True
and has now won 11 of 25 career
starts with two seconds and three
thirds while earning $553,994. Yes
It’s Valid has four winners from five
starters with Yes I Am Free as her
only earner of black type. She has
an unraced 3-year-old full-brother to
Yes I Am Free in Hits Different and
an unnamed 2-year-old colt by Ocala
Stud stallion Awesome Slew. She
was bred to Pleasant Acres Stallions
resident Gunnevera in 2022 and to
Girvin in 2023.
“It feels amazing because I hadn’t
won a Grade 3 race before, I didn’t
really win any stakes race before, so
this guy has done a lot for me and
[the owners]. It’s their first horse and
look what he’s done for them. He’s done a lot for all of us,” Caza-
res said. “All the horses do a lot for all of us but this guy has done
the biggest so far. It’s great.”

BY GULFSTREAM PARK PRESS OFFICE _______________
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL—Lawson Racing Stables’ One Identity,
in her fourth race off the claim and second straight on the grass,
got a well-timed ride from jockey Paco Lopez to become a stakes
winner for the first time with a half-length triumph over Charlie T
in the $100,000 Ladies Turf Sprint.
Trained by Rohan Crichton, Florida-bred One Identity covered
five furlongs in :55.92 over a firm turf course in the Ladies Turf
Sprint for fillies and mares, 4-years-old and older.
Claimed for $35,000 last summer at Gulfstream, One Identity
was exiting a third-place effort in a second level, $62,500 optional
claiming sprinting five furlongs Jan. 18, her turf debut, beaten less
than two lengths by winner Train to Artemus. That race snapped a
two-race win streak for the daughter of Uncaptured, both victories
having come over Gulfstream’s all-weather surface.
One Identity paid $8.20 to win.
“When she ran the last time, Paco admitted they went too fast
and he wanted to relax her a little bit more so that’s what he did,”
Crichton said. “It played out well for us.”
Lopez settled One Identity in fourth while saving ground as
long shot Florida-bred War of Ages blazed through an opening
quarter-mile in :21.42 pressed to her outside by Charlie T. Lopez
waited patiently for room that came when the field straightened for
home, splitting War of Ages and Charlie T at the top of the stretch
and outrunning a determined Charlie T to the wire.
Mamba Wamba, sent off as the 2-1 betting favorite, finished
third followed by Imagery, Stony Point, Moor Strength and War of
Ages. Miss J McKay and Spun Glass were scratched.
“Paco sat and got a good trip. He decided to go inside,” Crich-
ton said. “He gave up the garden spot outside, but the rail opened
up and she got through.”
Bred in Florida by Laurie Plesa, David Melin and Leon Ellman,
One Identity has won three of seven starts before being claimed
and was second to fellow Florida-bred Spirit Wind in the $100,000
Any Limit sprinting six furlongs on the dirt last winter at Gulfst-
ream. She has now won three of four starts for Crichton, who said
he had not looked beyond the Ladies Turf Sprint for One Identity.
“One dream at a time,” he said. “She’s gotten better and better,
for sure.”
For her career, One Identity, a daughter of Exchange Identity, by
Leriodesanimaux (Brz), has six wins in 11 starts with one second
and two thirds while banking $234,460.

OLDSMAR, FL—Just when a
race seems more wide-open than
you can imagine, and any one
of eight or nine horses seems
to have a chance to land in the
winners circle, along comes this
Pletcher fellow to snap you back
to reality.
The Hall of Famer and reign-
ing Eclipse Award champion
conditioner Todd Pletcher won
his record seventh Grade 3 Sam
F. Davis in the rain at Tampa Bay
Downs Saturday, as his 3-year-
old Litigate turned in a sustained
rally under jockey Luis Saez and
held off long-shot Groveland by
a length-and-a-quarter to win
$250,000 event.
Litigate picked up 20 “Road
to the Kentucky Derby” qualifying points after completing the
mile-and-a-sixteenth distance in 1:44.83. Groveland earned eight
Derby points for finishing second while Florida-bred Classic Car
Wash picked up six points on the Derby leaderboard for finishing
third. Classic Legacy finished fourth to get four Derby points while
Florida-bred Zydeceaux earned two for coming in fifth. Complet-
ing the order of finish were Laver, Dreaming of Kona, Dubyuhnell,
Prairie Hawk, Worthington and Champions Dream.
Litigate paid $7.60 to win as the second wagering choice.
“I’m very pleased with Litigate,” Pletcher said from his south
Florida base after winning the Sam F. Davis for the first time since
2016 with Destin. “He got a good position early and finished well.
We thought he would appreciate two turns.”
Saez was able to secure good position in fifth place early, keep-
ing Litigate out of trouble and saving his best for the stretch run.
“That was magnificent,” Saez said. “The game plan was trying
to break from the start and pick up some spots. He ran from there
pretty well and when he came to the top of the stretch, I felt like I
had a lot of horse and let him run free and keep going. I had plenty
of horse and he was running pretty nice.”
The victory, Litigate’s second from only three starts, was worth
$120,000 to owner Centennial Farms, raising Litigate’s bankroll
to $182,590.
“It’s exciting to be on the Kentucky Derby trail,” Centennial
Farms president and co-owner Donald Little Jr. said “He just real-
ly improved mentally from his last race [a second-place finish on
Jan. 8 at Gulfstream] and put it all together today. Luis gave him
a really tactical ride. He broke him early, got in there and saved
some ground in the first turn and then he moved him to the outside
and let him rock.”
The 43rd running of the Sam F. Davis Stakes was the center-
piece of an exciting Festival Preview Day card that included four
stakes. In the $150,000 Suncoast Stakes for 3-year-old fillies, the
race preceding the Sam F. Davis, co-owner and trainer Gerald
Bennett’s Florida-bred Dreaming of Snow pulled a shocker, with-
standing the determined efforts of 2022 Eclipse Award Champion
2-Year-Old Filly Wonder Wheel to post a neck victory. (See com-
plete story on cover.)
Earlier on the card, after 5-year-old gelding Sibelius won the
$100,000 Pelican in a stakes-re-
cord time of 1:08.75 [.08 sec-
onds off the track record] for
the six furlong-furlong distance,
winning trainer Jeremiah O’Dw-
yer danced an impromptu waltz
with his 2-year-old daughter
Adelaide in the Oldsmar win-
ners circle.
Sibelius’s performance under
jockey Junior Alvarado was
worthy of celebrating. They
withstood a race-long duel with
4-year-old Doctor Oscar, who
finished a length-and-a-quarter
back, with Florida-bred Gatsby
another length-and-a-quarter
back in third.
Sibelius, who is owned by
Jun H. Park and Delia Nash,
paid $5.20 as the betting favorite
in the 10-horse field.
He is six-for-18 lifetime,
including a victory in the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector on Dec. 31 at
Gulfstream in his previous start, and the winners share of $45,000
raised his earnings to $488,889.
“I was hoping for an easier time out there today,” O’Dwyer
said. “We knew that [Doctor Oscar] has speed and he kind of took

it goes.
“He was on the lead the whole way. He got pressured the whole
way and he was strong at the finish. I’m just very proud of the way
he battled and held on to the wire.”
O’Dwyer said he is hopeful of getting an invitation for Sibelius
to compete in the Dubai Golden Shaheen on March 25 in the Unit-
ed Arab Emirates.
Alvarado said he was impressed by how Sibelius fought
throughout, despite being pressure through taxing fractions of
:21.46 for the first quarter-mile and :43.88 for the half.
“Sometimes he breaks very sharp and sometimes he’s just okay
out of the gate. But today he broke sharp and I wasn’t going to take
anything away from him,” Alvarado said. “It wasn’t a real struggle
for him. He was a fighter for me.”
In the $50,000 Minaret, 4-year-old filly Drifaros pulled off an
upset, moving smartly to the lead on the turn for home and outlast-
ing Olivia Darling by a length-and-a-quarter.
My Destiny finished third, while the 2-5 favorite, Caramel
Swirl, flattened out late, finishing a disappointing fourth.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Drifaros, owned by
Wanda Polisseni’s My Purple Haze Stables and trained by Terri
Pompay. Daniel Centeno rode the winner.
“She’s so gutsy. She really is,” Pompay said after Drifaros sped
six furlongs in 1:09.85, .22 seconds off the stakes record. “It went
better than the game plan. I was worried that [My Destiny] might
push us, because you never know when they get to a certain point
and go ‘I can’t do this.’ But this was a great effort.”
Centeno, who rode Drifaros for the first time, felt he was sitting
on a lot of horse the entire way. “[Pompay] told me she has natural
speed, but she doesn’t have to be on the lead,” Centeno said. “I
let her go on her own inside and right before the turn, I decided to
open up before everybody came running.
“As soon as she took the lead, she got stronger and she did it all
the way to the wire. She tried hard.”
First-place money of $30,000 raised Drifaros’s career earnings
to $148,100.

OZONE PARK, NY—Gary and Mary West’s Kentucky home-
bred Hit Show announced his presence in the sophomore division
with an emphatic five-and-a-half-length victory in Saturday’s
$250,000 Withers (Grade 3), a nine-furlong test for 3-year-olds, at
Aqueduct Racetrack.
The Withers, which was rescheduled from Feb. 4 after cold tem-
peratures and high winds forced the cancelation of the card, awarded
20-8-6-4-2 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1)
qualifying points to the top-five finishers. Hit Show is now third on
the Road to the Kentucky Derby.
Trained by two-time Eclipse Award-winner Brad Cox, Hit Show
lived up to his 6-5 favoritism and scored the first stakes triumph
of his career on the heels of a three-and-a-half-length score in a
non-winners of two, $100,000 optional claiming score in December
at Oaklawn Park. He was scratched from the Jan. 28 Southwest (G3)
over the same oval in favor of the Withers.
“I just liked the way the Withers was coming up,” Cox said
of the decision. “I thought he fit well with the group. Obviously,
he was 6-5, so everybody else thought so, too. It actually worked
out well delaying the race a week as we had a little bit of an issue
getting [a flight] out of Memphis. We would have made the race
last week, but we would have been close on getting there in time.”
Breaking sharply from post four under Manny Franco, Hit Show
and longshot Prove Right raced prominently behind post-time sec-
ond choice Arctic Arrogance, who was sent to the front from the
inside post by Jose Lezcano to lead the field of seven into the first
turn. Prove Right tracked closely in second with Andiamo a Firen-
ze taking up third position as the trio put three-and-a-half lengths
between them and Hit Show through an opening quarter-mile in
:23.53 over the fast main track.

Prove Right inched closer to the outside of Arctic Arrogance
down the backstretch while a patient Franco held inside position
aboard Hit Show in fourth. Both Andiamo a Firenze and Hit Show
were asked for more through a half-mile in :48.09 as Arctic Arro-
gance pulled away from a retreating Prove Right. Hit Show had
plenty when asked by Franco, but lacked room as Arctic Arrogance
hugged the rail in front of him and a stubborn Prove Right hung to
his outside through three-quarters in 1:13.43.
Hit Show swung wide as the field exited the turn and displayed
an impressive turn of foot, easily overtaking second position from
a tiring Andiamo a Firenze and setting his sights on a game Arc-
tic Arrogance, who came under right-handed encouragement from
Lezcano at the top of the stretch. Hit Show proved too much for his
pacesetting foe and passed by with ease at the eighth-pole, cruis-
ing home under confident handling from Franco in a final time
of 1:54.71.
Arctic Arrogance, who raced with blinkers for the first time,
stayed on strongly to complete the exacta by six-and-a-quar-
ter lengths ahead of the rallying General Banker with Andiamo
a Firenze completing the superfecta by a head over Prove Right.
Jungfrau and Ninetyprcentmaddie completed the order of finish.
Franco, who celebrated his third Withers triumph, said he had
an ideal trip.
“The horse helped me a lot. He had a clean break,” Franco said.
“He broke so sharp out of there and put me in a perfect position.
I wanted to be fourth or fifth and I was following the right horse
[Arctic Arrogance] and I was so happy with the position. When it
was time to move, he was there for me. He responded really well
and got the job done.
“He’s a little green,” added Franco. “He’s learning race by race
and I think he’ll be okay. I think the more distance the better for
him. I put my hands down [in the gallop out] and I didn’t pull on
him. I just let him gallop out and he kept going around. I had to pull
him up to make him stop.”
Hit Show, a gray son of Candy Ride (Arg) out of the dual graded
stakes-winning Tapit mare Actress, banked $137,500 for his vic-
tory and improved his lifetime record to three wins in four starts,
adding to his aforementioned optional claiming victory and a debut
maiden score in October at Keeneland. His career earnings now
stand at $264,375.
He returned $4.60 for a $2 win wager.
Cox said he will consider the $750,000 Wood Memorial (G2)
on April 8, which awards 100-40-30-20-10 Kentucky Derby qual-
ifying points to the top-five finishers, as a potential next target for
Hit Show.
“I’m going to talk it over with the Wests and we’ll make a deci-
sion,” said Cox. “He’ll go back to Belmont tonight and chill out
there for a while and recover and we’ll come up with a game plan
for him. It very well could be the Wood Memorial. He obviously
likes the racetrack there and we’ll see how things go.”

ARTHUR'S RIDE dueled for the lead in the two path, shifted to the rail around the turn, was coaxed passing the three eighths
pole and cued right handed from the two path at the top of the lane, opened up slightly going into the final furlong and held safe.
DREAMLIKE prompted the pace in the five path, was urged right handed rounding the turn, took aim while floating out to the
seven path in upper stretch, and ran on while drifting inwards thru the final furlong for place. CASE broke out at the start and
dueled for the lead in the four path into the turn, was ridden around the turn and urged from the six path into the lane, but evened
out for show. PEREGRINO G rated in the five path but was one paced in the stretch. MONEGASQUE raced off the pace in the
three path but was no factor while shifting to the rail in the stretch. UNION TRAIL stalked in the three path early but faded in the
stretch. JUSTICE DEPARTMENT trailed along the rail into the turn and was never a menace. SECRET THREAT tracked in the

rally. COUNTY FINAL stalked the pace from the rail, had a clear path in the lane but was one-paced.

SAND DANCER steadied between foes early around the first turn and raced wellback in the three path down the backstretch,
was roused approaching the quarter pole while swinging out to the nine path entering the lane, rallied down the center and drew
past an inner foe in the final sixteenth to win. VELOCE had his head turned at the start but settled close up in the three path, was
ridden in the five path around the far turn and took aim from the seven path at the top of the lane, ran on to bid and take the
lead into the final furlong but was caught by a late surging outer foe to finish with place honors. TELEPHONE TALKER steadied
midway around the first turn and was held up in midpack from the four path down the backstretch, was roused in the five path
around the far turn and was under left handed urging in the eight path at the top of the stretch, and kept on for show. KITTEN'S
SPA tracked between foes in the three path, was coaxed rounding the far turn and tipped out to the six path entering the lane,
angled out to the center of the track just past the eighth pole, and finished evenly. PERFECT CUT stalked in the two path, was
roused into the far turn and in the three path entering the stretch, but flattened between foes late. INCITATUS hopped at the start,

AUDREY saved ground around the first turn, raced in the middle of the pack on the inside up the backstretch, began a bid from
the two path coming around the turn, kicked clear entering the stretch and held that margin to the finish. GIRL PRO raced in the
five path around the first turn, stalked the leader on the outside up the backstretch, began a bid from the three path coming around
the second bend and chased the winner home in the lane. DISCO QUEEN raced in the five path early, settled in the middle of the
pack on the outside for the run up the backstretch, began a bid from the four path racing around the second turn and kept on to the
wire. BLUSHING KEYLEN bumped lightly with the horse to his inside at the start, recovered to press the pace from the three path
through the opening half mile, continued around the far turn in the two path and weakened in the lane. BRYCENS GOLD raced in
the two path around the first turn, led the way on the inside up the backstretch, gave way and drifted out to the four path coming
off the far turn and faded from there. HOLLYWOOD HONEY bumped mildly with the horse to his outside leaving the gate, raced
in the two path around the first bend, tracked the leader on the inside up the backstretch, saved ground around the far turn and
tired in the stretch. MAY BEAU raced at the back of the pack on the outside through the opening half mile, navigated the far bend
from the two path and showed no kick. J'S STAR JET bumped with the horses to either side at the break, raced in the four path
